The Best Places to Go Shopping in Bangkok

Bangkok is one of my favorite shopping cities in the world! Bangkok has a fantastic selection of huge modern shopping centers with hip international and Asian fashion thiết kế brands. And once you step out on the streets you can continue to shop all kinds of cool and cheap stuff at markets and night markets.

I haven’t found any other city in the world with this kind of awesome combination of markets and malls. One minute you can shop cheap local designs at one of the many markets in Bangkok and the next minute luxury brands like Louis Vuitton and Chanel in a shopping mall nearby. The fascinating contrasts and variety are what I like the most about shopping in Bangkok. You can find everything here!

It can, however, be a bit difficult and overwhelming to find the best shopping in Bangkok since the city has so many shopping malls and markets.

The biggest and best shopping malls in Bangkok are clustered together within a fairly small area called Siam, which makes it very convenient to go shopping in Bangkok. It is easy to either walk or take the Sky train between them. All Bangkok malls have great food courts, restaurants, and cafes, ideal when you need a shopping break and something to eat and drink.

1. Icon Siam – Riverside Area

Map above: The 13 best shopping places in Bangkok

The newest and the “Mother of all malls” in Bangkok is the grand Icon Siam which opened in November 2018. The mall is beautifully located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River that runs through the city.

The mall is a fun place to visit, not only to shop but to indulge in a wide variety of delicious Thai food from all over Thailand. The whole Ground Floor (called SookSiam) is one giant food market packed with stalls and small restaurants selling all sorts of Thai food, drinks, desserts, and snacks. There is even a river at the ground floor where there is a small floating market with small boats selling food and snacks.

On the ground floor SookSiam, you can experience Thai arts, culture, tradition, food, and way of life from 77 provinces from all over Thailand. We enjoyed a fantastic Thai boxing show and a Thai dancing show.

In addition to the ground floor which is all about food and kind of like a market also selling Thai souvenirs and other typical market items, there are regular restaurants on the other floors too. We had Pad Thai at the famous Thipsamai which is also located in the old town of Bangkok and is on the list of our favorite Thai food in Bangkok.

When it comes to shopping, you will find shops like Hvàamp;M, Zara, Victoria’s Secret, Michael Kors, Dior, MAC, Sephora, Coach, trùm cuối, YSL, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Gucci, Fendi, Versace, Lush, Levi’s, and Uniqlo.

2nd Floor has what was Thailand’s first official Apple Store (there is now a second one at Central World), and it is awesome! The shop extends out to a huge terrace with a lovely park and view of the Chao Phraya river.

The 3rd Floor is the men’s area with menswear, sportswear, men’s accessories, watches, and cars. 4th Floor is where you find gadgets and electronics with shops like Sony, dTac, AIS, Huawei, BIG Camera, DJI, and Zeiss. If you have kids or are looking for stuff for kids, then the 5th floor is where you should be heading.

The top floor (6th floor) is all about dining and the decor and thiết kế is simply beautiful and very atmospheric with a huge water fountain designed as a water wall. On the 6th Floor, you will also find the top modern and high-tech cinema Icon Cineconic and Icon Fitness center. While you are on the top floor, make sure to try the Original Thai Tea at ChaTraMue, we love it! ♥

And one of the highlights of a visit to Icon Siam is the Iconic Multimedia Water Show that is shown at the gigantic fountain between the shopping mall and Chao Phraya River. The fountain is huge, 400 meters, the longest in Southeast Asia, and every evening at 18:30 (6:30 pm), 20:00 (8 pm), and 21:00 (9 pm) it turns into a spectacular sound and light show. The water show is a real must if you are visiting IconSiam.

  • How to get to Icon Siam: Take the Skytrain to Saphan Taksin BTS Station and take the free Icon Siam ferry that takes you right to the mall
  • Opening hours: Every day 10:00 (10 am) – 22:00 (10 pm)
  • Icon Siam’s Website page

2. Asiatique – Riverside Area

Located at the riverbank of the Chao Phraya River is the fairly new riverfront market Asiatique which opened in 2012.

Asiatique is a great place to go shopping and dining and you will find both nice restaurants and fantastic Thai street food here. Asiatique is a combination of a night market but also a shopping mall as it has both indoor shops (in a renovated 100-year-old sawmill) and open-air stalls. Here you find a mix of Asian, American, and European food and shopping (indoor and outdoor).

Although Asiatique is an awesome place to head for shopping and dining, you can also enjoy some great entertainment and shows at Asiatique:

This area at the riverbank of the Chao Phraya River used to belong to the Danish Ostindiske Kompani in the old days, and their old storage buildings have now been converted into cafes, restaurants, pubs, and shops.

The shops at Asiatique mainly have a tourist focus, where you can find Thai products and designs, some of which you will also find at Chatuchak Weekend Market. But it is a really cool touristy market, which is also very popular among Thais. Who doesn’t love Paris wheel, Italian gelato ice cream, and 4D cinema? Asiatique is great fun and one of the best night markets in Bangkok!

Asiatique is divided into four areas:

  1. Charoenkrung District
Here you will find more than 1000 shops and stalls selling Thai souvenirs and designs. A great area to shop for Thai souvenirs and gifts. The puppet theater and Calypso cabaret show are also located in this area.
  2. Town Square District
A market area with different outdoor activities like the Paris wheel. You will also find lots of different delicious street food here, both Western and Asian.
  3. Factory District
500 cool fashion shops with clothes, shoes, and accessories, all located in a 100-year-old sawmill.
  4. Waterfront District
The waterfront area of Asiatique is lined with several nice restaurants, both Thais and international gourmet restaurants and wine bars.

3. Central World – Siam Area

Central World opened in 2006 and is the sixth biggest shopping center in the world with eight floors. This is the ultimate Bangkok shopping mall and my favorite one.

Central World is divided into four “wings” full of shops, cafes, and restaurants. You will also find beauty salons, banks, mobile stores, a cinema and an awesome supermarket on the top floor, and even an ice-skating rink (The Rink)! Central World is so big that it even has cars and motorbikes on display and for sale!

Two of the four wings consist of department stores, like the Zen, which has a huge open area over several floors, containing many different brands. Each brand has its own area but there no walls between them. Very open and airy.

Each of the eight floors of Central World is dedicated to a specific type of item/ selection of goods:

  1. Floor – International designer brands like Marimekko, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Massimo Dutti, Jim Thompson (Thai silk) + some cafes like Twinings (tea). On the ground floor, there is an ice skating rink! Great fun to either try yourself or watch others have a go.
  2. Floor – Women’s clothes – brands like Sephora (makeup), Zara, MNG, Miss Selfridge, Max Mara, Lacoste, Coach, Aldo shoes, Rip Curl, Charles & Keith, Toms + some cafes (Godiva chocolate shop) + a few shops selling baby clothes
  3. Floor – Men’s clothes – brands like Levi´s, Adidas, Ecco, Asics, Nike, Wrangler, Timberland, Uniqlo, The North Face + cafes like Starbucks, Make Me Mango, and Pancake Cafe + Fitness First fitness center, Super Sports (Bangkok´s biggest sports shop)
  4. Floor – Technology, Electronics & banking – all the main banks of Thailand have a branch here + tech shops like mobile stores (like AIS, dtac, True), camera stores like World Camera, Big Camera, Sony Camera, Nikon, Olympus, Apple reseller. Life and iStudio, also shops like Alien Ware (gaming HW), DJI (drones), and Hero Gadgets + a few coffee cafes like Cafe Amazon, and a couple of beauty salons like Above The Nail
  5. Floor – Watches & Thai gifts/ souvenirs + some beauty saloons
  6. Floor – Kids & Cafes/ Restaurants + Asia books (book store) – kids clothes and gadgets
  7. Floor – Cinema, Restaurants, cafes + Foodworld (food court) + Central Food Hall (awesome supermarket)
  8. Floor – Beauty saloons

Central World has Bangkok’s biggest sports shop, Super Sports (located on the 3rd floor), where you can find almost all you need when it comes to sports equipment and clothing.

The 7th floor is full of great restaurants and a food court – Food World, with a wide variety of cuisines to choose from, both Asian and Western. The 7th floor also has an amazing supermarket, Central Food Hall, packed with all sorts of delicious food, fruits, vegetables, drinks, baked goods, and imported food from all over the world.

Here is even a room full of wine bottles, for the customers to look around and shop for wine from all over the world at the perfect temperature. We actually found some Norwegian Jarlsberg cheese at Central Food Hall! Yay! ?

Central World also has a top modern cinema, on the 7th Floor, which has a 3D cinema screen. They show Hollywood movies (English) the whole day until around midnight.

In 2020 Apple opened its flagship store in Bangkok, Apple Central World, at Central World. It’s Apple’s second store in Bangkok (there is also one at Icon Siam), and the largest Apple store in Thailand. It has a very cool all-glass thiết kế with a tree canopy roof, and even if you’re not in the market for any Apple products it’s well worth a visit just for its unique architecture.

The Groove At Central World

You will find the cozy Groove on the ground floor of Central World.

Groove is a collection of cool atmospheric restaurants and pubs serving international food like Italian (pizza and pasta), Japanese sushi, and European. Groove is well worth checking out if you want to chill out and rest after your shopping, grab a beer or drink and have something to eat.

  • How to get to Central World: Take the Skytrain to Siam BTS Station or Chit Lom BTS Station
  • Opening hours: Every day 10:00 (10 am) – 22:00 (10 pm)
  • Central World’s Website page

4. Siam Paragon – Siam Area

Siam Paragon is located a little west of Central World, with a walkway (bridge) between them. It takes about 10 min to walk from Central World to Siam Paragon.

Siam Paragon is easily accessible from the Skytrain station Siam, which is right outside Paragon Shopping Center. A good and easy start for your shopping bonanza!

Paragon’s Department Store, where lots of different brands are located covers a large open area over several floors. Paragon has one of Bangkok’s best cinemas (located on the top floor) and this is our favorite place to see the latest Hollywood blockbusters, preferably at the IMAX.

In the Department Store wing of Paragon, you will find the great Exotique Thai store on the 4th floor. Here they have all kinds of Thai thiết kế products, from clothing, jewelry, souvenirs, and beauty products, all made in Thailand. It is a great place to shop for gifts and souvenirs to bring back home if you don’t have time to hit the street markets in tìm kiếm of bargains.

Lots of great Thai design at Exotic Thai located on the 4th floor of Paragon, like silk, beauty products, and jewelry.
The Exotique Thai shop at Paragon shopping mall is a great place to shop for Thai souvenirs and gifts

The Exotique Thai shop at Paragon shopping mall is a great place to shop for Thai souvenirs and gifts

Each of the nine floors of the Paragon has its specialty, among them women’s clothes, men’s wear, shoes, sports, furniture, and so on:

  • Basement Floor – Has Thailand’s biggest aquarium, Sea Life Bangkok Ocean World (open every day 10:00 – 22:00). Going there is a lovely break from shopping and is especially fun for kids.
  • Ground Floor – Gourmet Paradise – Restaurants, cafes, and a huge international supermarket
  • Main Floor – The Luxury – Posh and expensive international brands such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Celine, Prada, Gucci, Burberry, Jimmy Choo, Marc Jacobs, Cartier, and Armani. Even car brands as Lamborghini and Ferrari have shops here.
  • 1st Floor – Woman’s Fashion – Brands like Coach, Hvàamp;M, Zara, Zara Home, Massimo Dutti, Bally, Aldo + Starbucks cafe, Godiva chocolate
  • 2nd Floor – Men’s Fashion + Lifestyle + Beauty – Brands like Hvàamp;M Men, Zara Men, Bentley, Oakley, electronics like Bose, Big Camera, Cin Guitars, but also Lego and car/ motorcycle shops like Harley Davidson, Lamborghini, McLaren, and Maserati.
  • 3rd Floor – Technology & Books – Paragon has Bangkok’s biggest and best bookstore (at least of books in English), Kinokuniya, on the 3rd floor. On the 3rd floor you will everything within technology and electronics like mobile phones, iStudio (Apple reseller), but also furniture and things to your home.
  • 4th Floor – IT World & Fitness – More electronics and technology, like mobile phone companies like dTac and Ais, a couple of antique shops, and the big IT City selling computers and gadgets. If you are up for a little sweat and want to burn some calories, then one of Bangkok’s biggest and best fitness centers is located on the 4th floor, Fitness First. Exotique Thai is great for Thai gifts and souvenirs (in the Department Store section of Paragon on the 4th floor).
  • 4th (A) Floor – Education Zone – Daycare for children, different schools, and workshops.
  • 5th Floor – Entertainment Zone – Paragon has probably the best cinema complex in Bangkok, located on the 5th floor, with both 4D, 3D, and IMAX. Altogether they have 15 large size theaters which show Hollywood movies with Thai subtitles. There are monitors at the entrances of Paragon, displaying an overview of what movies are showing and at what time. You will also find Kidzania kids playground on this floor, as well as a bowling alley, the Blu-O.

The Gourmet Paradise At Siam Paragon

On the ground floor of Paragon is a big food court called Gourmet Paradise with many restaurants and cafes. Many of the biggest international restaurant chains are represented here.

The only thing with Paragon`s food court is that there are no walls between the restaurants and cafes, they are all in one huge area, which makes the noise level a bit too high in my opinion. Sometimes it gets so noisy it’s hard to hold a conversation with others at the same table! Not my favorite part of Paragon shopping mall.

A huge supermarket is also located on the ground floor, with a fantastic selection of different food from all over the world. Love this supermarket!

  • How to get to Paragon: Skytrain to Siam BTS Station.
  • Opening hours: 10:00 (10 am) – 22:00 (10 pm)
  • Siam Paragon’s webpage

5. Siam Center – Siam Area

Siam Center is located just next to Siam Paragon, between Siam Paragon and Siam Discovery, connected with a walking area/ wide pavement.

Siam Center is not nearly as big as Paragon and Central World, with only four floors. It is not among my favorite malls in Bangkok, I usually just go through it on my way between Paragon and the newly renovated and hip Siam Discovery mall (see below).

Siam Center has a hip, dark and dim feel to it and is very popular among Thai teenagers. It consists of many small shops, some international brands but many small more unknown Asian brands.

It has a great food court on the top floor which is less noisy and crowded than the one at Paragon. We really like this food court and it is well worth a visit if you get hungry and need a break from your shopping.

The four floors of Siam Center consists of:

  • Ground Floor – Fashion Avenue – International and well-known shops and brands like Adidas, Lush, Armani Exchange, MAC, Sephora, Pull & Bear, and Victoria´s Secret
  • Main Floor – Fashion Galleria – Many shoe shops like Aldo, Havaianas, Fitflop, Dr. Martens, but also smaller and unknown fashion brands
  • 1st Floor – Fashion Visionary – Cosmetics and beauty product brands like Harnn (Thai brand)
  • 2nd Floor – Food Factory – A great and relaxed food court with both Thai and western food. This is better than the food court at Paragon.

There are also some small cafes here. It`s nice to walk around at Siam Center, as it is much more peaceful and less noisy than Central World and Paragon.

  • How to get to Siam Center: Sky train to Siam station.
  • Opening hours: 10:00 (10 am) – 22:00 (10 pm)
  • Siam Center’s webpage

6. Siam Discovery – Siam Area

Siam Discovery, located just next to Siam Center (just a few seconds walk between the two), has just been through a major renovation and is brighter, shinier, and cooler than ever! Siam Discovery’s slogan is “Keep it cool“. And it certainly lives up to the phrase.

Siam Discovery has a completely new layout with an airy open almost market-like feel to it and an urban thiết kế of bright white walls with black metal contrasts. It consists of many hip international brands, and you can find an impressive variety of stuff here, everything from housewares to toys, shoes, and clothes. You will even find some of my favorite Scandinavian brands at Siam Discovery, like Acne and Samsøevàamp;Samsøe. ♥

I love the layout and atmosphere of the Siam Discovery shopping center. It is easy to find your way around, feels airy, fresh, and bright.

Siam Discovery houses Bangkok’s Madame Tussauds on the 5th floor.

  1. Ground Floor – Her Lab – Women´s fashion, shoes, jewelry, and accessories. Here you will find brands like Geox, Emmy Yang, Karl Lagerfeld, Kenneth Cole, Alexander Wang, DKNY, Calvin Klein, Victoria Victoria Beckham, Alexa Chung. This floor also houses Jamie´s Italian restaurant.
  2. Main Floor – His Lab – Men´s fashion, shoes, bags, accessories, skincare and shaving stuff for men, watches, and fragrance for men. Brands like Geox, Kenzo, Kenneth Cole, Hush Puppies, Samsonite, Barbour, Alexander McQueen, Calvin Klein, Balenciaga.

7. MBK – Siam Area

MBK, or Mahbookkrong as is its full name, was built in 1985 and is one of Asia’s oldest shopping centers. You can easily walk from Paragon shopping mall to MBK (a 15 min walk).

MBK is a huge center particularly popular among teen Thai girls, especially on weekends, but also among tourists. It is almost a tourist attraction in itself. At MBK you can find Thai souvenirs at a cheap price, although don’t expect them to be as high quality as the ones in the Exotic Thai department store on the 4th floor of Paragon.

The center is packed with small shops and stalls, mostly Thai brands and designs, and not many international shops. Many of the smaller Thai brands only make clothes designed for Thai’s, so unless you are quite small, it can be a bit difficult to find clothes that fit.

If you are tech and camera nerds like us, head to the 4th and 5th floor, which are full of electronics. Here you will find everything from Apple shops as iStudio to big professional camera shops as Nikon and Canon.

One part of the 4th floor (Mobile Mania) is packed with tiny stalls selling all sorts of electronic stuff and spare parts. They have everything you can think of! Especially mobiles phones and mobile accessorize is in a majority. Here you can also have your mobile phone fixed if you have any problems with it, as they can fix almost everything at a cheap price while you wait! Espen had a button on his iPhone replaced for 500 THB.

If you get hungry or need a rest, there is a food court, the MBK Food Island, on the 6th floor (Thai and international food). And if you get really fed up with shopping and want to do something else, you can go bowling, sing karaoke, or watch a movie on the 7th floor.

MBK consists of seven floors:

  1. Ground Floor – Fashion – Tokyo Department Store (one big open space full of clothes), fashion shops, gold and jewelry, souvenirs, a few beauty shops, restaurants, and cafes like Mc Donalds, Starbucks, Cafe Amazon, KFC, and Burger King.
  2. 2nd Floor – Fashion – Fashion and accessorize, some international brands like New Balance, Reebok, Levi´s Outlet Store, Crocs. Lots of gold and jewelry. Boots and Watson pharmacy. Food: Pizza Company, Ramen, Dairy Queen cafe, Dunkin Donuts. Some beauty saloons.
  3. 3rd Floor – Fashion – Fashion and accessories. International brands like Converse, Camel Active, lots of smaller brands. Some beauty shops and Burger King.
  4. 4th Floor – Tech and Mobile phones – All sorts of mobile stuff in the Mobile Mania area and electronics heaven
  5. 5th Floor – Camera – Camera (Big Camera, Canon, Samsung) and Electronics, furniture, and home decor
  6. 6th Floor – Food Court & Thai Souvenirs – MBK Food Island food court, small Thai brand fashion, and accessories shops and stalls, Thai souvenirs in Craft Village
  7. 7th Floor – Entertainment – Cinema SF Cinema City, bowling, escape room, karaoke, game center, restaurants: KFC, Starbucks, MK Restaurant, Pizza Hut

MBK shopping center is great fun but pretty exhausting as it is packed with Thai teenagers shopping like crazy, especially on weekends!

8. EmQuartier – Sukhumvit Area

EmQuartier is located just next to Phrom Phong BTS Skytrain Station, which makes it very easy to reach. It is a fairly new (opened in 2015) and very hip and cool shopping mall.

The mall is divided into three different zones:

  • The Glass Quartier
  • The Helix Quartier – four dining floors with more than 50 restaurants
  • The Waterfall Quartier – with a real waterfall which has become a popular selfie-spot

The mall has an impressively cool and earthy thiết kế with a gigantic rainforest chandelier (yep made of real plants!) in the middle surrounded by the staircases. The facade of the building houses a vertical garden with the highest waterfall in Bangkok called Waterfall Quartier. I love how green and earthy the mall is. So cool!

A real highlight of the EmQuartier mall, however, is the stunning rooftop open-air park Panorama at the 5th floor. Here you will find a spectacular and beautiful green garden, called Quartier Water Garden, with panoramic city view over Bangkok.

As for shopping, you can find a department-kind-of shop called Quarator on the 2nd floor with clothes, shoes, and accessories from different Thai designers.

The Basement Floor contains the Quartier Food Court as well as many cafes (like Starbucks, Benvàamp;Jerry, and Au Bon Pain) and restaurants (both Asian and Western). At Ground Floor, you will find a huge and fantastic supermarket called Gourmet Market selling everything you can think of when it comes to groceries. Ground Floor also houses beauty shops like Sephora (Thailands biggest flagship Sephora store), MAC, and fashion brands like Emporio Armani and Michael Kors.

In the rest of the mall, you will find luxury brands like Celine, Chanel, Jimmy Choo, Miu Miu, Prada, Stella McCartney, Alexander Wang, Armani Exchange, Calvin Klein. But also less pricey brands like Hvàamp;M, Massimo Dutti, Superdry, Ted Baker, Uniqlo, Gap, and Zara.

Men’s fashion and lifestyle are located on the 2nd floor. You will find technology and gadgets on the 3rd floor (Big Camera dtac, Samsung, Sony, Studio 7, True) as well as the great bookstore Kinokuniya.

4th floor is the entertainment floor with the cinema and art center Quartier Cineart & Imax, as well as Virgin Active Fitness Club. If you are not feeling too good, you can also find several dentists, clinics, and doctors on the 4th floor.

The 5th floor is a must-visit with its fantastic open-air tropical garden Helix Garden and the rooftop area The Escape with bars and wine lounges with a spectacular view of the Bangkok skyline. When you are getting hungry and thirsty, you should head to the 6th – 9th floor which is the Helix Dining with an impressive number of over 50 great restaurants and cafes.

These top four floors are all connected by an impressive and cool spiral walkway. It really is a dining paradise with all food you can imagine from all over the world. We actually found it difficult to choose between all the fantastic restaurants as they all look amazing. You will for sure not go hungry from EmQuartier!

There is a walking link from EmQuartier to Emporium shopping mall (see below) which is located just across the road (Sukhumvit Road) .

9. Emporium

The Emporium, close to Phrom Phong sky train station,  opened in 1997 and has recently been renovated. The Emporium mall consists of seven floors.

The Emporium is a glamorous and glossy center with a nice atmosphere. The bright white walls and shiny marble floor make the thiết kế of Emporium classy and sophisticated. From the moment you enter the mall, you get a luxurious feeling when the doormen in crisp white uniforms hold the doors for you and welcome you and you hear the soft jazz music playing in the background.

On the ground floor is Emporium Supermarket, with delicious food from all over the world. The first floor consists of perfumes and cosmetics, handbags, and jewelry. Here are all the big international brands, such as Marc by Marc Jacobs, Hermes, Cartier, Prada, Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, and Mulberry.

The second floor is all about fashion, clothes, and shoes with less pricey stores like Zara, Armani Exchange, Diesel, Guess, and Calvin Klein. The third floor is electronics and sports, while the 4th floor consists of interior decor, furniture, and household stuff. On the 4th floor is Exotic Thai, the perfect place to find Thai souvenirs and gifts to bring back home.

If you are getting hungry and thirsty, the 5th floor with its great Emporium Food Hall is where you should be heading. Here you will find different kinds of food like Japanese, Indian, Vietnamese, and Western. The food court is very high quality. This floor also houses the Emporium Gourmet Maret, a fantastic international supermarket.

The top/ 6th floor consists of an exhibition art center called Thailand Creative and Thiết kế Centre (TCDC). Here you can enjoy different art and creative displays by different Asian designers. The top floor also houses a spa and a cinema.

  • How to get here: Skytrain to Phrom Phong BTS station.
  • Opening hours: 10:00 (10 am) – 22:00 (10 pm)
  • Emporium’s webpage

10. Pantip Plaza – Pratunam Area

Pantip is a geek’s and nerd’s heaven! This five-floor shopping center is packed with electronics and gadgets of all kinds. At first glance, this chaos of shops and noise feels like madness, but there are some logic and system to it all.

At Pantip, you will find everything from well-known electronic brands and shops as iStudio and iShop (3rd floor), Nikon, Sony, Samsung, and Canon. But you will also find not-so-legal small stalls selling pirate copies of movies, TV series, games, and software.

Pantip has an entire floor just for mobile phones, phone accessories, and mobile repair. Espen got his cracked iPhone screen replaced here and it was smooth, quick, cheap, and his iPhone worked perfectly afterward.

We love to walk around Pantip looking and trying out all sorts of cool gadgets and camera gear!

The noise level is quite high, however, which together with the crowds make it quite exhausting after a while. Pantip has a food court on the 2nd floor with typical Thai dishes, great for filling up your energy level and sit down and rest for a while.

  • How to get to Pantip: Skytrain to Chit Lom BTS station, and walk (a 15-min walk). Or take a tuk-tuk or taxi.
  • Opening hours: 10:00 (10 am) – 21:00 (9 pm), but the best time to go is mid-day as many of the smaller shops open later and close earlier.
  • Pantip`s Webpage

11. Central Chitlom – Sukhumvit Area

Central Chitlom is located just next to the Chit Lom Skytrain BTS Station. It has seven floors and a straightforward thiết kế and layout of each floor.

Each floor is a big open space with the different brands having their own area with no walls between them. The first floor is all about perfumes, cosmetics, jewelry, and handbags. It has brands such as Mulberry, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Dior, and Louis Vuitton.

On the 4th floor, you can find a good selection of high-quality Thai souvenirs like silk and beauty products made in Thailand. This is among my favorite shopping centers in Bangkok, as it has some of my favorite brands. The shoe floor is great, with a large selection of international shoe brands!

Chitlom has a nice and relaxed vibe, and all floors are airy and open-spaced with the different brands spread out with no walls between them. It is easy to orientate and find your way around. Peaceful, chilled, and not so crowded and noisy as Paragon and Central World.

It also has some nice and cozy restaurants and cafes, like Greyhound which has delicious cakes! Its food court on the 7th floor is good and popular, also among Thais.

Chitlom does not have a cinema or other entertainment, so what you get here is pure shopping.

12. Terminal 21 – Sukhumvit Area

Terminal 21 is located next to the Asok BTS Station and is a fairly new shopping center that opened in 2011.

Terminal 21 is a really cool and unique shopping center, one of the coolest and most spectacular I have ever been in! Each floor is inspired by a city, one is London, another is Paris, Rome, Tokyo, Istanbul, San Fransisco, and Hollywood.

The center is huge, consisting of more than 600 shops!

Although Terminal 21 has some big international brands such as Esprit, Camper, Adidas, Hvàamp;M, Guess, Levi’s, Nike, and Quiksilver, it is also full of small and cool Asian thiết kế brands. This combo is fantastic and why I really love Terminal 21. It is the perfect place to shop for gifts and souvenirs to bring back home.

Terminal 21 has a wide range of nice restaurants and cafes on the 4th and 5th San Fransisco floor, as well as a cinema on the top floor, Hollywood Floor.

You should visit Terminal 21 just to have a look at the thiết kế of each floor! Super cool and very unique!

Terminal 21 consists of nine floors:

  1. Lower Ground Floor – Caribbean – Supermarket Gourmet Marget (which is awesome), Boots pharmacy, some cafes
  2. Ground Floor – Rome – Fashion, international brands like American Eagle, Lacoste, Levi´s, Camel Active, Quiksilver, and Mango
  3. Main Floor – Paris – Fashion, international brands like Hvàamp;M, Camper, Charles & Keith, The Body Shop, Victoria´s Secret, Oakley + Starbucks cafe
  4. 1st Floor – Tokyo – Women´s fashion – Lots of small stalls and shops of small unknown Asian brands
  5. 2nd Floor – London – Men´s fashion – Small stores and stalls selling everything from t-shirts to jeans for men + the sports shop Sports World
  6. 3rd Floor – Istanbul – Shoes, bags, accessories, souvenirs, gifts, decor, jewelry from small Thai brands and designers.
  7. 4th Floor – San Fransisco – Food & Drinks, restaurants like Tony Romas steaks and ribs, MK Restaurant, Fuji Japanese restaurant, and lots of other Asian food
  8. 5th Floor – San Fransisco – Food & Drinks, restaurants like KFC and lots of Asian food
  9. 6th Floor – Hollywood – SF Cinema, Fitness First, Spa center, some IT shops like AIS, dTac, True, Samsung, and PlayStation

13. Chatuchak Weekend Market

Chatuchak (or Jatujak) weekend marked is one of the biggest markets in the world, covering more than one km, consisting of more than 15 000 stalls!

The Chatuchak is a tourist attraction in itself, with over 200 000 people visiting each weekend! It is popular among both local Thais, foreigners living in Bangkok, and tourists. You should come here and have a look even if you are not a big shopper as you can find some of Bangkok’s best Thai street food here.

The market is divided into 27 sections, and you can find things as wood carving, clay handicrafts, local souvenirs from every part of Thailand, Buddhist amulets, wooden furniture, handmade decorated flowers, ceramic wares, Chinese wares, garden plants, stones, trendy fashions, silk, hill-tribe outfits, paintings of local painters, fluffy dogs, handbags, shoes, jewelry and fashionable Thai thiết kế of all sort – All at a cheap price! It really is spectacular!

You can also eat and drink at nice small cafes and restaurants selling some of the best Thai street food in Bangkok. And if you shop too much, or very large things, TNT and DHL are present and are more than happy to pack and ship your stuff to your home.

Read about all my favorite markets in Bangkok here.

How To Get Around Bangkok For Shopping

All of the shopping malls and markets that are on this best shopping in Bangkok list are easy to get to by public transport, by Skytrain, Subway, or ferry. Some are even located right at a Skytrain or Subway station.

You can also, of course, get to these places by taxi, tuk-tuk, or by Grab car.

But if you want to get around Bangkok for shopping in the most comfortable and convenient way, you should consider booking a private driver.

The driver will take you (your group of family and/ or friends) to all the shopping places you want, and you can leave your shopping bargains in the car while you are shopping at the next mall or market. Super convenient and best of all, the car has to air-condition! ?  Your driver will pick you up at your hotel. You can choose which malls and markets you want to visit and the driver will drive you around to those places. Your driver will return you to your hotel at the end of the day.

After a full day of shopping, one can feel quite exhausted and might feel like the picture above! Bangkok is a great shopping city, maybe the best, and the quote “Shop till you drop” is suitable for describing the shopping mania going on here! Love it!!

If this wasn`t enough, and you want more shopping, here are our favorite markets in Bangkok that you should not miss.

However, accommodation prices do vary greatly with the season. Below are some of our favorite hotels in Bangkok.  We have stayed at all of the hotels below.

Avani Riverside

If you’d like to stay along the river without breaking the ngân hàng, the new Avani Riverside hotel is a great alternative to the usual riverside luxury hotels. Rooms are super comfortable with fantastic views overlooking the Chao Phraya River and the fantastic rooftop infinity pool is probably our favorite in Bangkok.

Casa Nithra
If you’re looking for a mid-range option close to Bangkok’s famous Khao San area, then the Casa Nithra comes highly recommended. The rooftop swimming pool is lovely, the rooms comfortable and the breakfast has plenty of options. It’s located in a quiet area, yet Khao San is just an easy walk away.
